To accomplish this task, a Director:

  • Interprets the script
  • Casts the production
  • Collaborates with designers
  • Plans the rehearsals
  • Guides the actors in their work during rehearsals

According to Stephen King, “Directing teenage actors is like juggling jars of nitro-glycerin: exhilarating and dangerous.”

The TCHS Directors are outstanding in helping our casts and crews grow in the art while developing our teens into actors who bring their characters to life in performances and productions that are superior with just the right amount of exhilarating and minimizing the dangerous.  The Timber Creek High School Theatre Department is fortunate to have three excellent directors and be a part of a school and district that promotes and supports the performing arts!

The work of the Director is central to the production of a play. The Director has the challenging task of bringing together the many complex pieces of a production—the script, actors, set, costuming, lighting and sound and music—into a unified whole.
